Time, Literature, Archaeology

Being up to date in archaeology implies a lot of reading. And what is being read should necessarily be up to date. However, in order to write archaeology, one must also read (usually) piles of old literature. This practice challenges the usual (archaeological) conception of time – or at least ‘stirs it up’.

One way has been to combine archaeological and evolutionary ideas enabling new interpretations of the past. Unfortunately, recent attempts at this have forgotten its roots; have we forgotten about Freud?

The Queer Science

It all started in the year 1870. By publishing his article on sexual senses, C. Westphal had introduced the world to the homosexual. Sex between individuals of the same gender was no longer a phenomenon belonging to sodomy. Rather, homosexuality was now part of the human species. But just like everything else, the study of homosexuality in the 20th century was mainly focused on men. But in 1991, the queer science was born.

Subconscious discomforts in culture

All cultures have certain unspoken rules or guidelines about our behavior in specific social contexts – this is not controversial. But sometimes, these roles that we play collide. This creates an immense discomfort within ourselves. And what then happens is usually quite embarresing. It can be weird, absurd, crazy, og just sad. We do not know how to behave, and we just react. But why do we react in these specific ways?

Sorte hull skremmer ikke
